Hired!

I'm feeling much better. Thanks for all of your kind comments and advice. More good news! I went on a second interview this past Thursday and got the job. I start tomorrow and I really think I'll enjoy working in the environment. It's for a start up camera gear rental company and to top it off, I'll be working with my friend Lisa. Yay! I'm starting out part time and will get more hours as summer picks up more business.

Another cool thing in the works, is two great chances to win My Minds Eye prizes. Everything Scrapp'n will be holding a contest on their blog and I get to have a giveaway/contest right here as well. So be sure to check back during the month of April. You'll need some of the new products from MME for the contest over at the Everything Scrappn blog, so check out the 15% discount (ends March 31st).

Logan's adorable sister CJ is visiting from Iowa on her Spring Break. Jenna & I took her to China town and North Beach on Friday. We had some very filling steamed pork buns and gelato through out the day. The weather has been very sunny and relatively hot too. As we were walking back towards Market Street we saw some purple glass in the ground. I had to take a photo.
We also stopped in the ultra cool book store City Lights (on Columbus Ave.) and I snapped a photo of the stairwell area. The store has such personality, I love it there. Saturday we met Kevin & Courtenay for dinner at Amici's in San Jose before heading to an incredible Sharks game (NHL). We had an amazing time and they won. Courtenay & I talked through most of it but we still stood up and screamed when they scored. I especially liked doing the jaws motion when they played the music. Fun times.

Out Sick

I'm finally admitting, I am sick. Luckily its just a cold and I am not feeling so stuffed up this morning. I've been trying to take it easy and not do too much so I can get over it faster. So, the only thing I've been up to these past couple days is watching movies, napping, and maybe some occasional scrapbooking when I have the energy.

Yesterday I watched Nine Months for the first time. I know I'm way slow in seeing it, but I enjoyed it for sure. I re-watched The Wedding Date and remembered how much I adore Dermot Mulroney. I saw Nights of Rodanthe a few weeks ago and really enjoyed watching it. It was incredibly visual. The house in the movie is just awesome. Plus, I adore Diane Lane and Richard Gere. Even better that they didn't end the movie all Hollywood style. Of course, I watched all the extra stuff on the Twilight DVD's. It was mildly entertaining. I suggest watching it when you're sick. ;)I started reading Inkheart, by Cornelia Funke, about a week ago. It is a story that was originally written in German and then translated into many other languages. I'm enjoying what a different world it is from mine. I've got the next two books sitting next to my bed and I'm pretty sure I'm hooked.
And finally, I've been listening to Lady Gaga's cd, The Fame almost non stop for the past two weeks. Check her out if you haven't heard of her yet. I have a Black & White photo midterm tonight so I'm off to prepare for that. Happy hump day!

News, news, news

I am very excited to announce that I have been chosen by Heather to be a part of her design team over at Everything Scrappn! And I thought I'd share that she just got in the new lines from My Mind's Eye and they are 15% off right now. And to top it off, if you spend $30 or more, shipping is free. I just got done placing my order and can't wait for it to arrive. So what are you waiting for? Go shop. :D

I also have some pages to share. This one is for Dan's album. I started it a while ago and finally finished it. Don't you hate how other projects pop up and you just don't get everything wrapped up? I've been trying to wrap up a lot of those lately. The photo of us is taken on our graduation party by Scott Fong.
I scrapped this lo for a Scrapjacked challenge a long time ago. I never put a title on it and it got buried in my scrap paper. I found it this weekend and now its titled! I'm thrilled that it will finally go into my album.
Kristi was scrapping here on Friday and made the cutest lo. I was so inspired, I lifted it the next day. I'm really excited about my graduation pictures lately. Here is a fun photo I took with my lomo fish eye camera.
Wow, I have so much to update on! We celebrated Kelly's 24th birthday at a fun pool hall on B Street in San Mateo, a week ago, Friday. She had so many co-workers there and it was really neat to meet all of them. I think we played for a little over 3 hours! I have only played once before, but I still had beginners luck. I even made a shot with the cue behind my back.
Last week I was very busy with midterms and preparations for upcoming midterms in other classes. I didn't have much time for photos. I did get a chance to get out and visit the California Academy of Sciences that opened recently. Let me tell you, its incredible! I took over 350 photos and haven't had much time to look at them. I am happy with what I did see. The aquarium was definitely my favorite part. Here is a view from the top of the aquarium, near the planetarium.
And in the aquarium:
I could do a whole post on that visit to the Academy, but I think I'll skip it and just let you know when I've uploaded all the fun photos to flickr.

Friday of this past week was a bit insane for me. I took portraits in the morning, recorded some silly videos, and prepared for this lovely group of people:
Kristi, Courtenay, and Kevin joined us for pizza, MarioKart, and Rockband. We had way too much fun and not enough time. I wish I had taken more photos but I had taken 703 photos in the past 10 days.

I ran right out after work on Saturday to pick up Twilight. I was thrilled to get it for $17.99 at Target instead of pre-ordering it from Borders and having to wait. Just not my style. Watched it half way through with Jenna before she had to leave, then started it over and watched it with my parents on Dan's tv. Yes, we borrowed it for Friday night's video game session.

All Dogs Go to Heaven

Things have been emotional lately. Brewster left Dan & Zena naturally yesterday. He was the ripe old age of 15+ years. He was such a fun and loving animal and a big part of the family. It will take time for the healing process to begin and he will be missed greatly. We love you!

*Say It In Scrap 15* Walk-a-thon

We have a new challenge posted over at Say It In Scrap. We challenge you to use the phrase "You just make me wanna..." for inspiration for a page. Every time I see this photo, I think how it would be so fun to really have red highlights in my hair. I'm too chicken to really do it because I'm afraid it won't look the way I envision it. This photo of my Dad, sister, and I is from 1991. I used the Dozens September kit.
Lots more to share but I have a midterm due tomorrow as well as some other fun stuff. Happy Monday!

Geeky Moments

I met up with my friend Mike from the air force on Monday night. We went out for Thai before seeing the incredible movie, Slumdog Millionaire. What a movie! The cinematography was outstanding, the acting was great, the story was slow at times, but totally worth the wait. I wasn't thrilled about the violence and disturbing images at times, but sometimes life is like that. I'd say, if you are like me, its probably better to wait for DVD so you can turn down the sound when necessary. I spent a bit of time looking at my palm. I totally forgot to take pictures with Mike, so sadly, I have no photos from our fun night out.

I visited my grandma in Walnut Creek and watched Dancing with the Stars (she taped it). I was really amused to see Steve O trying to dance. It was very entertaining. Then I drove to meet Eric in Palo Alto for an early dinner. I drove for about 3 1/2 hours yesterday so I'm not doing much driving today! We chatted about my obsession with Twilight and the reasoning for it being released on a weekend. I've decided its so the teenage girls can stay up late to get the DVD and not have to worry about a school night. That and its exactly 4 months from the release of the movie in theaters.

Eric & I enjoyed yummy goodness at the Peninsula Creamery, one of my all time favorite diners. Here is a picture the waiter took of us right before leaving.
I got home in time to watch American Idol last night. I am completely crushing on Danny Gokey. My mom wants him to change his last name. I don't care though. And Kris Allen is adorable too. Very cute and geeky. Almost to quirky. I thought it was hilarious when Simon told him it was too soon to bring the wife out. They are newly weds you goof!

I'm planning to go to Michael's for the 4th day this week. Yes, I am an addict for the 50% off coupon. And I might apply for a job there so I can help the habit. We shall see. I finally finished a lo that has been swirling around in my head since the paper was released at Winter CHA 2008. I think it fits the picture perfectly. A layout for fun? Not for any specific challenge, what? I noticed that I haven't scrapped many photos of Dan just by himself. So why not? The adorable mustache tag is designed by the lovely Michelle Clement. I admit I went a little crazy with the stickles, but its been a while since I've used them so I had to make up for it. And thanks to Jenna for the silly title. I am so horrible at coming up with witty titles.
Ok, geeky moment!Jenna called me into the living room this morning because John Lasseter was on the View this morning. He's the MAIN guy at Pixar and they had a clip of UP, the newest Pixar movie, which is coming out May 29, 2009. It looks totally cute and lots of fun!

What a weekend!

Wow, I had a weekend! I spent most of Friday running errands, doing homework, and working. I decided a night of pj's was necessary in preparation for Saturday. The weather has been absolutely sunny lately, so after work on Saturday, Dan & I took a bike ride along the beach. All of the wild flowers are starting to bloom and make our green land more colorful.
We rode our bikes to meet Jessica at Starbuck's to catch up for a while, but after the sun went down it got cold. We moved it to my house and chatted about Twilight while Dan went for a test drive in my Uncle's new car.

Then we all headed over to Kelley's apartment to meet up for Jenna's night out celebration. We drove to the Steelhead Brewing Company in Burlingame for some dinner and drinks. We followed that up with some dancing at the Vinyl Room. It turned out to be 70's night so a bunch of people were wearing Afros and crazy outfits. We danced until the music slowed down and then called it a night.
Yesterday was an incredibly great day for me. I got a lot of positive feedback about my recent common sense lo I did for scrap mojo. I was given a bag full of Hershey kisses (love chocolate), found great deals at Michael's near my work, and then Kristi surprised me by dropping off some stuff I'd ordered with her.

And if that wasn't enough, I went to the Grand Opening of Michael's near me. The closest one is a 30 minute drive one way. Now I have a super store just 15 minutes away!
The store is bigger than any Michael's I've ever been to. I love how organized it is and all of the great products they carry. They even have American Crafts albums!
I was so excited, I took a video of the scrapbooking section. And it shows 1/4 of the scrapbooking area in the store. I ran into quite a few people that I know and that was fun too. My mom even joined me so we could get two items at 50% off.

I'm still on a huge shopping high. It's a safe assumption that I'll be stopping by at some point today, with Jenna, to use another coupon and score some more stuff that I saw. Of course I enjoyed myself after at Dan's house too. We watched My Super Ex Girlfriend. I laughed so hard at some of the stuff that was in that movie. I love movies on tv, good deal!

And now, I leave you with Jenna's birthday card that I made for her 21st birthday.

*Scrap Mojo 31* Common Sense

The current Scrap Mojo challenge is to scrap what you would do if you ruled the world. Include stars on your project/page. I had a lot of fun playing with glimmer mist and the sewing machine. Due March 15th. For more details, check out www.scrapmojo.blogspot.com
Jenna joined me on Wednesday to visit our Grandma. We had a really difficult game of scrabble. I think our grandma beat us by about 100 points! I kept getting all the U's! We did enjoy the time together. Her arm is slowly continuing to heal so that is good news.
Wednesday night I went to Amy's crafting night at Laurel's house. It was fun seeing all the different crafts that people do! I brought a bunch of my felt collection and donated it to Amy and her evening. I haven't played with felt in a long time and I'm still working on simplifying my life. I started making my mom a felt owl. I'll post pictures when its done.
Thursday was such a busy day! I met Eva & kids for lunch at a yummy Chinese restaurant and then we spent 3+ hours wandering around the SF zoo. We had fun riding the carousel and we were so lucky the weather was decent while we were visiting.
I brought a ton of rain gear thinking it was going to rain, the clouds were really dark. Josiah's stroller ended up looking like some kind of pack mule.
Have a great weekend. :D

Lots o fun

Been going to a lot of parties these past few days. My dad and Jenna have their birthdays spread exactly one week apart. Friday night started out with me taking BART and meeting Dan out near his work, then driving to Fremont to hand out with our lovely friend Kristi & pals. We scrapbooked a little and goofed off a lot. Dan took this fun polaroid and we just love it (courtesy of Kristi).
My Dad's family birthday celebration was on Saturday night. Dan & I got placed at the kids table. Its been a while since that has happened. We had way too much fun and laughed ourselves silly. I don't think Dan will be eating green beans for a long while. ;)

I always love seeing my cousins because they love to give input on my scrapbooking and of course, its nice to catch up with the fam. I love this picture from dessert time. I Wish I could remember what they were laughing about.
Sunday night I met a bunch of the PVS family (mostly mine anyways) for a 10 year anniversary party for a few of the employees at PVS. They had a beautiful get together in the swanky pool house. I especially loved that Rocket the girl turtle made an appearance. Of course, the food was delicious.
I spent much of Monday procrastinating on this little piece of paper. I guess the proper word would be experimenting. I've been nervous to break out that glimmer mist and finally make a mess testing it. I found that silver under purple is my favorite look. This is a lil sneak for the upcoming Mojo challenge.
What a day Tuesday was! I was definitely kept busy the whole day. Our cousin Jeff met us and took us out to lunch at BJ's. Jenna & I ordered a berry cider and then Jeff got carded for taking a sip! The dude that ran over acted like a power hungry police officer about to make a big arrest. Silly him-Jeff's 25! We laughed pretty hard at that one.

Jeff had to go to work, so Jenna & I continued on to shop at the mall for a few hours. Due to complete exhaustion, we skipped the bike ride in the rain. It was pretty good that we did since it hailed twice yesterday afternoon. We relaxed some before dinner. I made Jenna a card while completing the audio book of Twilight (our book was out on loan). I was so glad to compare Bella's version of Twilight to Edward's version of Midnight Sun. Good thing he's good looking. :D

Our evening was laid back with chatter and a little bit of Wii bowling before we remembered that American Idol was on. Had some goofy pictures and dessert before passing out from complete exhaustion. Jenna had a great birthday!
Some how my to do list has grown in monster size proportions so I am off to slash it back down. Happy hump day!

21!

Someone very special turns 21 today! I think some very odd things are in store for us today. A possible bike ride in the rain, and some other random whims that my sister hopes for. Happy Birthday Jenna!
I'm really excited to announce the Say It In Scrap is back from its winter break! Our newest challenge was posted yesterday. We hope to see you join in the fun. We used the phrase "Say What?" for our inspiration. Here's my take on it.
I was at a weekend retreat with a bunch of scrap friends and I was easily shocked by some of the things they said. I don't remember what struck me so funny, but I laughed so hard that I hyper-ventilated into a newly opened chip bag and then proceeded to fall onto the floor, practically crying. I thought this challenge was just perfect for my reaction captured on polaroid film.

Happy March!

Last Saturday, I went to Amy's February Social Squitten. We did some archery at a local range and then we went out for Sushi in San Francisco. We had a blast, as always. Here is a photo of a few of the girls. There were lots of guys, but they didn't actively cluster together for a photo.
Lisa came over for pizza and all around good fun on Sunday. She surprised the heck out of me with her new funky hair cut. I love how experimental she is. I'm always too scared to try anything when it comes to my hair cuts.
Monday night I joined in the fun at the Academy of Sciences in San Francisco for a lecture on asteroids. I was fully convinced that with my luck, I will die of an asteroid hitting my bedroom. ;) I really enjoyed the brand new planetarium and all of the beautiful new things that I briefly walked by. After, we went to Park Chow for dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed their house apple pie.
Tuesday was my Dad's birthday. I had fun making him this little card. I haven't really used my glimmer mist so I went all out on this one. I layered the cupcake stamp on three different papers and then layered them on top of each other.

I joined my dad at Mel's for lunch before heading out for some shopping at the local outlets. He found some Tommy Bahama shirts and we grabbed a replacement umbrella (mine broke from crazy Irish winds).
Friday morning Brewster had a small seizure that scared the heck out of me. He started falling all over the place and I had no idea what was going on. Zena explained to me that he has a tumor and suffers from seizures about once a month because of it. He seems to be okay now. Isn't his sweater cute?
Here is the simple valentine I made for Dan. I finished reading The Time Traveler's Wife the other week. I really enjoyed how it didn't follow any chronological order. Plus its a great love story. I read Stephanie Meyer's first 265 pages to Midnight Sun. It was leaked and she posted it on her website so people wouldn't go searching for it. I really love reading the story from Edward's perspective.
